Book of birds
This series is about bird book illustrations that provide objective truth, but at the same time elicit the subjective imagination of the viewer. The paintings combine multiple images that are configured according to their formal qualities. The proportions of the birds are adjusted and distorted in relation to one another. The objective realism of the original is repurposed as a formal element and the resulting image is no longer truthful, but still recognizable. The paintings engage with the idea of truthiness.
